Zaid S. Aljuboori, MD joined the University of Louisville neurological surgery residency program in July of 2014. He currently serves as the chief resident. Dr. Aljuboori received his medical degree from the University of Al-Mustansiriyah College of Medicine, placing 15th among 209 students, and went on to complete his first year of residency in general surgery at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in 2012.

During the start of the Iraq War, Dr. Aljuboori assisted his university's hospital in Baghdad as a student staff member as many employees had left out of concern for their security and safety. In 2013, he was hired by Harvard Medical School as a postdoctoral research fellow for the 2013-2014 academic year. He also joined others in the department in 2018 on a medical mission trip to Nicaragua with Hand in Hand, a Louisville based non-profit. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Aljuboori will complete his fellowship year with UW Medicine Department of Neurological Surgery in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Aljuboori's current research interests focus on:

  • Morphometric analyses of cranial base anatomy and its application to surgical approach selection.
  • Outcomes research of cranial base tumors and neurovascular diseases using local and national databases.
  • Effects of fibrinolysis on the clinical outcome of subarachnoid hemorrhage patients.
