2017 Neuro-Oncology Symposium - July 8, 2017

This symposium will present a multidisciplinary approach needed for the care and treatment of patients with neuro-oncological diseases in order to educate and inform health care providers, patients, and their caregivers about best current practices and future treatment and rehabilitation directions for patients with neuro-oncologic diseases. Several disciplines will be represented including neurosurgery, neurology, radiation oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neuropathology, and neuro-oncology. It is also expected that this cross-sectional platform will stimulate innovative and insightful research in research in a collaborative environment and improve the regional standard of care.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Identify the latest innovative treatment options and alternate delivery techniques for patients with primary brain tumors and other neuro-oncological diseases.
2. Describe, identify, and teach palliative care techniques to physicians who care for neuro-oncology patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
3. Determine when surgery, whole brain radiation and radiosurgery are appropriate for patients with neuro-oncologic diseases.
