Securing Windows XP
There are several actions you can take to make your XP system more secure:
Turn off the Windows Messenger service
Close Windows Shares
Turn off IIS (Internet Information Server)
Turn on the Windows Firewall
Accessing IRC (Internet Relay Chat) or other chat services is a security risk. These clients should be removed from workstations.
