Residence Telephone Services

Welcome University Residential Students!

The University of Louisville has changed the telephone numbers for the residential halls to the "854" exchange. Effective August 2000, Bettie Taylor Johnson Hall and all residential halls will be in the "854" telephone exchange with the exception of Medical/Dental Apartments. All University departments telephone numbers will remain in the "852" exchange.

With this change to "854" comes new dialing instructions---you will no longer dial '9'+ the number. See detailed instructions below.

General Dialing Information and Instructions
Emergency--Dial 911
Campus Security--Dial 852-6111

On Campus & Residence Hall-to-Hall Calls--Dial the seven-digit telephone number.

Local Calls--Dial the seven digit number.
Long Distance Calls
Due to the rising rate of students who are using alterntive methods to communicate with family and friends, we are discontinuing our plan with AT&T ACUS. Residents who wish to make long distance phone calls from their rooms can use calling cards or make an operator assisted call using 0+.
Toll Free Numbers--Dial 1 + 8XX + toll-free number
Operator Assisted Calls--Dial--0. Use normal credit card procedures, or wait for the operator to assist you.
