How Can I Subscribe to UofL.net Remote?
Faculty, staff and student subscriptions for UofL.net Remote are requested through ULINK. Other members of the University community may request a subscription through the department which originally sponsored their computer account.Hardware Recommendations
To get started, you will need a desktop or portable computer, a modem, and a telephone line. The following workstation configuration and modem are recommended.
- PROCESSOR: Pentium III
- OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP, 2000, or NT
- VIDEO: 16MB+, true colors
- DISK SPACE: 200MB
- MEMORY: 128MB
- MODEM: Purchase a hardware modem, not a "Win" or software modem. If the modem requires an operating system, it is a software modem. Software modems rely heavily on your operating system to do their work, which can adversely affect the operation of other processes on your computer.
Upgrade your modem with the latest "flash" updates. Modem manufacturers frequently offer flash updates to improve performance. These upgrades are usually available for download from your modem's manufacturer on the World Wide Web.
What Are My Payment Options?
The monthly $8 fee may be paid by VISA, MasterCard, bank debit card, and cash or check. Faculty and staff payment options also include automatic payroll deduction or interdepartmental billing.

What Are the Restrictions in Using UofL.net Remote?
As a univeristy-provided service, UofL.net Remote access is restricted to non-commercial uses and applications consistent with appropriate use of state resources. Careful reading of the user agreement when accepting the account will clarify terms of use. Violation of the terms of the account agreement may be grounds for termination of your UofL.net Remote account.
