Blackberry License Details Form
BlackBerry Client License Requirements
Before a BlackBerry device can be added to UofL’s server, you need to make sure that it is setup or provisioned to be able to connect to an Enterprise server. This will vary depending on your carrier. Here are the main providers and their associated networks that will work: (all are capitalized letters except the “x” in 1x)
- Cingular (GPRS or EDGE)
- Nextel (NXTL)
- T-Mobile (GPRS or EDGE)
- Verizon (1x or EVDO)
- Sprint (1x or EVDO)
It is highly suggested that you are on an unlimited data plan. These usually cost more, but the cost is/could be significantly lower than the cost if you continuingly go over what your plan is allocated for.
After you are sure that your device is on the correct network and can be added to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the next step you need to think about is the address book that you would like to sync up to the device, you can only have one.
!!!Note!!! You cannot sync the following 3 GroupWise Address books:
- Novell GroupWise Address Book ( The Novell system address book is to large )
- Novell LDAP Address Book ( The Novell system address book is to large )
- Frequent Contacts ( Freq. Contacts is a highly dynamic address book, and can and usually does change often. Because of these changes Rim/BlackBerry has strongly suggested that this address book not be used due to some issues that it can cause with synchronizations.)
The web site for the Tier1 to use to set up the Blackberry Device is Blackberry Device Setup
