Microsoft Spam Filtering Solution

Information Technology recently implemented an improved spam filtering solution to reduce unwanted email. The new solution will impact all University email accounts, including student email accounts.

How does it work?

The solution, a partnership between Microsoft and the University of Louisville, will quarantine suspect mail outside of UofL systems to prevent overload of individual email boxes and university email resources. You will be able to view, salvage, delete and report mail as false positive.

Any mail in the spam quarantine which has not been acted upon will be automatically deleted after 15 days. Once deleted, it cannot be retrieved. Therefore, we encourage everyone to review their quarantined email on a regular basis.

Important Update

Beginning January 24, 2009 Microsoft spam filtering URLs required to check your spam quarantine, report received spam, and report false positive spam (email reported as spam that is not spam) will be updated. Please update all browser bookmarks, favorites, etc. to reflect the new URLs. For help, contact the IT Help Desk at 852-7997 or online at http://louisville.edu/it/helpdesk.
