- What is Res-Net or Dorm Net?
- Res-Net/Dorm Net are terms used to refer to the internet access in the Resident Halls.
- What is Res-Net Connection Protection?
- This is a service provided to all students living in the on campus housing. This service scans any computer connected to a internet connection within the Resident Halls for current virus protection and the latest Windows updates, prior to their gaining internet access.
- How will this affect my ability to get internet connected?
- To get your Microsoft Windows computer connected to the Internet you will be required to install the Cisco Clean Access Agent. The agent will verify that the computer has all the latest critical Windows updates and that the computer's virus protection is current before it is connected to the Internet. Note: You will also need to know your ULink userid and password before you can connect your computer to the Internet.
- The current Clean Access Agent does not seem to install on Vista.
- To fix this issue download and save the Agent software to your workstation desktop and then right click on the install file and select "Run as administrator"
- How do I fix this error message, "Network error: SSL certificate rev failed."?
- This is an issue with an IE7 security setting, please read this document to correct.
- My "login" menu option in the Cisco Clean Access system tray icon is grayed out and I cannot log into the system.
- This normally indicates that you have a networking device, such as a router, between the computer and the wall jack. If you do not have a networking device between the computer and the wall jack, then your desktop firewall software may be interfering with the Clean Access Agent make sure that you have an exception for the CCAAgent.exe application or allow udp/ip port 8905 traffic. The Windows XP firewall does not need this exception.
- I have a firewall but do not know how to configure it to allow the Clean Access Agent to work.

- For Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall go to symantec's web site and in the search box insert this text "adding a firewall rule". The first result should be directions for adding firewall rules.
- Kerio Personal Firewall should pop-up a window that asks if you want to allow the application "Cisco Clean Access Agent" or CCAAgent.exe.
- Installation of the Clean Access Agent on Vista results in the "error code 4102" message
- Make sure that you have all of the latest Microsoft security patches installed on your Vista computer. Once you have done a windows update try installing the Clean Access Agent again.
- How will this affect my ability to connect my X-Box, X-Box360, Playstation 2, PlayStation 3 or TiVo to the Internet?
- These devices should be able to connect without any interruptions, we have programmed the ResNet connection system to recognize these systems and to allow them access. However if your device cannot connect please contact the IT HelpDesk for assistance at 852-7997. You will need to provide them with the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter.
- I have a Nintendo Wii can I use the built-in Wi-Fi?
- No, to use your Nintendo Wii on our network you will need to get an Ethernet adapter. Once you have the adapter you should be able to connect without any interruptions, we have programmed this system to recognize the Wii systems and to allow them access. However if your device cannot connect please contact the IT HelpDesk for assistance at 852-7997. You will need to provide them with the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter.
- How will this affect my ability to connect to other devices such as Nintendo GameCube, Playstation?
- In order to use these devices it will be necessary to contact the IT HelpDesk at 852-7997 to register the device, you will need to provide the MAC address of the device. Once the registration process is entered by the HelpDesk you will be able to connect your device.
- Why is this necessary?
- By helping you verify the machine has current virus protection and the latest Windows patches, this service will help reduce the amount of virus infections to students living within the Residence Halls. Typically it's hard for a new PC owner to know how to protect their machine. This service makes the process simple and will make it easy to bring new machines up to date with the latest protection.
- Will this service clean virus infections from my PC?
- No, however if you have not maintained current virus protection in the past, it will give you simple instructions that will allow you to install a new version of virus protection.
- How can I convert my English text to other languages:

- All versions of Windows Vista, all versions of Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows SE, Windows ME.
- Other Operating Systems are supported as web based authentication.

- IE 6, IE 7, and Firefox

- Hard Drive Space Requirements:
- Minimum 10 MB hard drive space
- Some foreign operating systems are compatible, including German, and French. However although the client may install properly on Japanese versions of Windows the text will be displayed in English only. Other Asian operating systems however are not compatible.
