Encryption
Full Disk Encryption
Full disk encryption (also referred to as whole disk encryption) encrypts each data bit on a disk or disk volume. With full disk encryption not only is the data encrypted but also the programs as well. This type of encryption is preferable to a file-by-file encryption method where the user must select the files to encrypt. Full disk encryption is the best and only true way to protect data at rest on a desktop or laptop.
Full disk encryption does not just protect files and folders; it protects all data stored on the hard drive - including the operating system itself. As a result, full disk encryption is the most comprehensive and cost-effective method for preventing data leakages and achieving regulatory compliance.
