At Work Symantec Client

The "at work"  Symantec Antivirus install is a customized version meant to be used for machines used on campus.  It offers built in update paths that allow the definition files to be automatically updated by the IT servers.  The built in file paths also allow automatic centralization and quarantine of newly discovered viruses.


At Home Symantec Client

This client install is available for home users, such as students, and faculty/staff, who want to protect their home machines from viruses. This client is built to make updates more convenient for users. This client requires a modem connection before an update will occur.  The software has a built in reminder that def files need to be updated, after 30 days. All updates come directly from Symantec's server.  This client however does not offer the advantage of the Central Quarantine server.


Symantec Server Client

Departmental servers should install the "at work" client appropriate to their Windows Operating System. This client will contain the same centrally managed features as the desktop client and will receive automatic updates through the IT NAV server.


Symantec AntiVirus Handheld Client

This is the Symantec Anti-Virus software for handheld devices with internet capability.
