IT Minute transcription: Scholar House
Ralph Merkel: Hi I’m Ralph Merkel and it’s time for another I.T. Minute. I’m here at the Northwest end of campus and this is Scholar House under construction. Let’s take a look and see what I.T. did to help the people who are going to live here.
Cathe Dykstra: Family Scholar house is the organization and Louisville Scholar House is our campus here in Louisville and it provides a full continuum of care for single parents who are continuing their education. That includes housing, affordable housing, section eight housing. The University has been an amazing collaborator who said “We have this program, No Child left off-line, and I really think that these computers would benefit the families at Louisville Scholar House.”
Jason Dunn: Basically what we did here today is we picked up some machines that were donated by the University, got them all loaded up for them, dropped them off, set them up with internet access, made sure they could log on to their computer with their own accounts. And hopefully it will help them out with their college career.
Cathe Dykstra: This is a donation that benefits the family. 56 single parents and 98 children will live on this campus, and every one of them will benefit from the generosity that UofL has showed toward Louisville Scholar House.
