IT Extends Wireless Printing After Sucessful Pilot - January 2007
Information Technology has extended wireless printing throughout Belknap and Health Sciences campuses following a successful pilot in Ekstrom Library’s Tulip Tree Cafe.
Wireless printing is available any place there is a UniPrint (pay-for-printing) station, said Bob Waters, IT support services.
Although the primary users will be students, faculty and staff could use wireless printing while doing research in the library or for other personal use. Anyone who wants to use wireless printing should go to the IT Store to download and install free printer software. The software, Waters said, places the UniPrint driver on the computer.
The printing process is like that at the computing centers, he said. To use the wireless printer, a user will select “UofL UniPrint Wireless Printing” as the printer. A pop-up window will appear for that person to complete with the name of the job, his or her name and password. Users will pay for and retrieve their copies at the print station.
To download the software, go to the IT Store ( http://louisville.edu/it/itstore ). Follow the link to "Enter the IT Store," go to the “Free Software” link and select the “Wireless” category.
