Faculty Travel Grant Information

Through the generous support of the Office of the University Provost, the International Center is able to offer University of Louisville faculty travel grants in support of their participation in international activities.  Faculty may receive this award every other fiscal year.

Travel grants are available to full-time and part-time faculty to support teaching and research projects abroad. Grants are also available for independently-arranged international academic activities and activities involving current U of L exchange partners.

Eligible recipients must provide documentation of matching funds from home department, grants, or sponsoring agency or university.  The travel grant application is sent directly to the attention of Debbie James at the International Center. All other forms for travel, such as the Out-of-Country Travel Authorization Request form, Overseas Emergency Information Sheet, etc., are to be sent directly to the attention of Debbie James, 101 Brodschi Hall.

Conference, Research and Teaching Grants

These activities include presenting papers at international conferences, conducting research abroad, or teaching at a foreign university. Travel grants up to $500 for these activities are awarded on a matching basis. Matching funds may come from your home department, grants, or the sponsoring agency or university.

Exchange Program Grants

Travel grants for participation in an official university-to-university exchange program or for travel to a foreign university in an effort to establish an exchange are also available. These grants, which are also awarded on a matching basis, are up to $500. If travel is for the express purpose of establishing a faculty or student reciprocal exchange program, you must contact the Office of International Affairs at 852-6602 for exchange program guidelines and the appropriate exchange agreement forms.
The deadline for applications for these activities (conference, research/teaching, and exchange programs) is one month prior to the proposed travel dates.
Both of these programs are open to full-time and part-time faculty. If you have any questions, please contact Debbie James or at 852-1506.
