Forward Your Exchange (Outlook) Email
Below you will find instructions on forwarding your Exchange (Outlook) email to another account.
Before you choose to forward your email, please read the university's archiving policy to be aware of how it pertains to non-university email.

(Note: Forwarded email appears to come from your account, rather than the original sender. If you would rather the email appear to come from the original sender, follow the Redirect instructions below.)
- From the Outlook Mail view, click Rules at the top of your screen.
- Click Manage Rules & Alerts.
- Click New Rule.
- Under "Start from a blank rule," click "Apply rule on messages I receive."
- Click Next.
- Click Next again.
- You will receive a message that says "This rule will be applied to every message you receive. Is this correct?" Click Yes.
- Check the box next to "forward it to people or public group."
- Check the box next to "delete it." This will delete the message from your Outlook mailbox after the message is forwarded to your other account, preventing a buildup of messages in your Outlook mailbox.
- In the box under Step 2, click "people or public group."
- Next to the To button at the bottom of the window, type the email address to which you want to forward all your Outlook messages. (ex. jandoe01@cardmail.louisville.edu). If you are forwarding to your CardMail account, you can also find your CardMail address by running a Search at the top of the window.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Next again.
- Give the rule a name, such as "Forward to CardMail."
- If you would like to forward all email currently in your mailbox to this account, check the box next to "Run this rule now on messages already in Inbox."
- Click Finish.
- Click Apply.
- Click OK to close the window.
Click here to redirect your Exchange (Outlook) email
(Note: A redirect rule differs from a forwarding rule. Redirected email appears to come from the original sender. Forwarded email appears to come from your own account.)
- From the Outlook Mail view, click Rules at the top of your screen.
- Click Manage Rules & Alerts.
- Click New Rule.
- Under "Start from a blank rule," click "Apply rule on messages I receive."
- Click Next.
- Click Next again.

- From the Outlook Mail view, click Rules at the top of your screen.
- Click Manage Rules & Alerts.
- Highlight the forward or redirect rule you wish to delete.
- Click Delete above the rule list.
- Click OK.
- Click OK to close the window.
