About Cisco Secured Email

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) now includes email security and privacy regulations that require all individually-identifiable health care information be protected to ensure privacy and confidentiality when electronically stored, maintained or transmitted. Any email containing ePHI (electronic Protected Health Information) sent via email over the Internet needs to be encrypted before sending. Cisco Secured Email is a service which allows you to encrypt messages being sent outside the university network. It should always be used for email containing ePHI sent via email over the Internet.
