Workshops for Professionals and Community Groups

As part of the ongoing effort to improve services for those affected with ASD in Kentucky, KATC staff provides workshops on autism and related topics to professional and community groups across Kentucky. Below is a list of suggested topics. The KATC encourages professional groups to work in collaboration with KATC to design a presentation to meet your group's needs. These 3 to 6 hour workshops are designed for professional and community groups. KATC can also work with your organization to provide a multi – day workshop series. The hosting organization is responsible for obtaining relevant continuing education credits. KATC will provide the necessary documentation for your organization to complete the application form..  Professional Development Workshop Fees: $300/3 hours or less - $600/4-6 hours. Please allow at least 6 weeks in advance to schedule a training.


 


Training for First Responders 

**This is a two hour training currently approved for two CE/Contact Hours from the KY Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) and KY Fire Commission State Fire Rescue Training.

  • Explain what autism is - including characteristics and spectrum of how these characteristics are expressed among individuals with autism.
  • Review frequently used terms, interventions, and common types/titles of caregivers.
  • Understand how to respond to and interact with individual(s) with autism – including communication strategies.
  • Identify de-escalation strategies that could be utilized with individuals with autism
  • Review local, state-wide, and national resources related to autism.

  • A process approach to planning and implementing instruction for individuals with ASD's using the CAPS
  • Strategies for inclusion for students with an Autism Spectrum Disorders
