Student Cap & Gown Ordering

Students -  Please read this page before submitting your order.

Don't miss the deadline to order a cap and gown! Place your order on or before Tuesday, October 31st at midnight.

The University of Louisville is proud to offer graduating students a custom classkeeper gown with the University Minerva Seal.

Classkeeper Caps & Gowns 
Bachelor, Master, MD, and DMD student caps and gowns will be classkeepers ordered from Herff-Jones, the University’s cap and gown vendor. Classkeeper caps and gowns are purchased and do not need to be returned after the ceremony.

Students receiving master degrees (except Master of Fine Arts) should order under the school where they take their courses, rather than Graduate School. Students receiving an MFA, AuD, DNP,  EdD, JD, or PhD should order under the Graduate School.

Custom rental apparel is worn by AuD, DNP, EdD, JD, and PhD students.

MFA, AuD, DNP, EdD, JD, and PhD students who will be attending the Doctoral Hooding and Graduation Ceremony on Friday, December 15th at 3:00 p.m. do NOT go to the cap and gown distribution.  Your apparel will be picked up by the SIGS-Graduate School staff. Your cap and gown will be pressed and ready for you to robe in the line-up room on the day of your ceremony. Custom rental apparel must be returned immediately following your ceremony.

All Student Orders
The deadline to place an order is midnight Tuesday, October 31st. You must know your school/college, the correct name of your degree and major, and all sizes to fit the robe. Style, colors and trim are determined by the University of Louisville according to standards for academic apparel. Your tassel color (and hood- if master or doctorate) is determined by the degree you will be awarded. If you do not know your correct degree, please contact your advisor before placing your order. After submitting your order, you will receive a thank you confirmation page with your order number along with an e-mail confirmation. Your confirmation number is proof of purchase, so please have the number available when picking up your apparel. If you do not receive the confirmation-thank you page, please place your order again to ensure your order was received.  The Red Barn distribution staff will have a complete list of confirmed orders.

IMPORTANT! Bachelor and Master classkeeper apparel orders must be picked up at the Red Barn during the distribution dates and times, see Cap & Gown Distribution in the left menu. If you are unable to pick up your apparel, please ask a friend or family member to do so on your behalf, the vendor will not issue a refund or credit for apparel not picked up, nor will the University assume responsibility for uncollected cap and gowns. Apparel will no longer be available after the Red Barn closes at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017.

If you find that you are not graduating or cannot attend the ceremony and need to cancel your cap and gown order before the October 31 deadline, please e-mail the Commencement Staff so we may cancel your order for a full refund.  Please make sure to include your order confirmation number with your request. After the October 31 deadline, orders are in production and cannot be canceled.

If you are a Doctoral candidate pursuing an academic career and interested in purchasing faculty apparel, please select Faculty Apparel Purchase from the left menu.  Orders to purchase custom doctorate apparel must be placed at least 8 weeks prior to the ceremony date to ensure a timely delivery.
