Boiler Replacement

Physical Plant removes an old coal-fired boiler and awaits a new natural gas boiler as part of the university's energy performance contract initiative. Implementing the phase I (Belknap) energy saving measures is projected to save the university $2.3 million annually. The savings are used to pay the loan taken to finance the efficiency improvement projects. Phase II (HSC/Shelby) energy audits have been conducted to identify additional opportunities.
