HRSA Public Health Scholarship Program

The scholarship application is open March 1 - April 15, 2024.

The purpose of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Public Health Scholarship Program (PHSP) is to strengthen the public health workforce by incentivizing individuals to pursue training and careers in public health. Through the PHSP, scholarship recipients will gain the requisite knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, prepare for, and respond to recovery activities related to COVID–19, as well as other public health emergencies.

HRSA PHSP scholarships will be awarded to UofL students who provide evidence of financial need to cover tuition costs for one of the approved programs listed below. Award amounts may cover partial or full tuition costs for up to one academic year, dependent upon available funding, student financial need, and number of applicants. Financial need considers all financial aid, scholarships, and Veterans Affairs funding (not including student loans).

A UofL education is an excellent investment in your future. For additional information on educational expenses and the Cost of Attendance, please visit the Student Financial Aid Office’s website.

Scholarship recipients must be enrolled or plan to enroll part-time or full-time in one of the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Science in Public Health
  • Bachelor of Arts in Public Health
  • Accelerated Bachelor’s--Master of Public Health (MPH) Program
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
  • MS in Biostatistics
  • MS in Epidemiology
  • Graduate Certificate in Public Health
  • Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics

How much scholarship funding is available? The amount of funding for each student is determined by the number of applicants who qualify. We have the opportunity to distribute approximately $200,000 in 2024-25.
