Deadlines for Filing Residency Appeals

An application for a review of a determination of residency status shall be received in the Registrar's Office no later than thirty (30) calendar days after the first day of class of the academic semester (Spring-Summer-Fall) for which a determination of residency status is requested. Academic calendars are available on the University's web site.  Pursuant to 13 KAR 2:045, Determination of Residency Status for Admission and Tuition Assessment Purposes, an institution may set other deadlines for submission of additional documentation required by the Institution in a determination of residency status.

For specific information regarding the filing of an application, please refer to the Council on Postsecondary Education document 13 KAR 2:045, Determination of Residency Status for Admission and Tuition Assessment Purposes. Copies of the Regulation and University Policy  are available from this web site,  in the Registrar's Office and all Offices of Admission.

Statement Regarding Residency Appeal Submission Process

Due to social distancing requirements related to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made some adjustments to the submission process for residency appeals.

  • Waiving the notary requirement

Page 14 of the affidavit requires the document to be signed in front of notary. This requirement is temporarily waived to allow for social distancing and to ease the process for students. Affidavits may be submitted without being notarized.

  • Change in submission process

We are requesting that appeals be submitted via e-mail to restuit@louisville.edu . Please attach your completed affidavit and all supporting documentation to one e-mail for submission. If possible, please scan and attach as PDF’s. If you do not have the access to scan the documents, clear photos may suffice. All documents should be sent as attachments, not embedded in the body of the e-mail. Students may still mail completed affidavits and documentation to our office. Please ensure that they are postmarked by the deadline date.

  • Communications

All communications related to your appeal will be sent electronically via e-mail to the e-mail address provided on your affidavit as well as your University account.

Please contact our office via e-mail at restuit@louisville.edu or via phone at 502-852-6528 with any questions you may have about the residency appeals process or how to submit an appeal.
