Project Title: Investigating the spillover and crossover effects of workplace incivility on family health and behavior
-
About the project: I’m investigating the short and long-term effects of experiencing workplace incivility, which has been on the rise in the last few years. Workplace incivility is problematic in that it involves experiencing rude and dismissive behaviors from coworkers or supervisors that is somewhat ambiguous in nature, often leaving the employee who experiences incivility wondering why and what they must have done to bring it on. Not only does workplace incivility impact employees in and outside the workplace, but the emotional fallout from experiencing workplace incivility can also impact family members.
-
Intended outcomes: Through the use of intensive longitudinal research methods, we hope to refine and advance our understanding of this phenomenon which can lead to more targeted workplace intervention efforts.
-
How KY INBRE will help accomplish these goals: Funding from KY-INBRE has helped to tremendously, allowing the time and resources necessary to conduct this research which I am passionate about.

Outside of the classroom/lab: I foster animals for my local humane society and often have baby kittens and mama cats in my home for 6-8 weeks at a time.
