Community Building within the Disciplines
To date, PRIMES has helped fund over 25 different student run events. These events have included everything from large events for 50+ people, down to small events for 10 people. The goal for each of these events is to promote interactions between early career STEM students with later career STEM students, faculty, or practicing professionals. The nature of the interaction is up to the STEM-based recognized student organization (RSO) but can include picnics, travel to conferences, or events to connect with new and incoming students. To obtain funding, RSOs must submit an application to the Community Building Working Group at least one month prior to the event. As part of the application, RSOs must identify their intended goals for the event and work with the Community Building Working Group in developing an assessment tool to measure the events impact.
If you belong to a STEM-Based RSO at UofL and would like to apply for funding, you can find the application form here.
