Laurel Hajek oversees the Office of Professional Development and the Samuel L. Greenebaum Public Service Program at the Brandeis School of Law. She actively engages in student and alumni career counseling, employer relations, public service initiatives, and programs and workshops focused on career development.
Dean Hajek has more than 20 years of experience serving as an Assistant Dean of Career Services. She worked at the University of Dayton School of Law and The John Marshall Law School (Chicago) before coming to the Brandeis School of Law in 2012.
Prior to beginning her career in academia, Dean Hajek was a manager with the consulting group at Ernst & Young LLP in Cincinnati and an associate with a Florida litigation firm. She is licensed in both Florida and Ohio and is currently a member of the Louisville Bar Association (LBA) and the Women Lawyers Association of Jefferson County. Dean Hajek currently co-chairs the Solo & Small Firm Section of the LBA. She also serves on the LBA Pro Bono Consortium and is a former member of the Public Service Committee. Dean Hajek previously served on the Communications & Publications Committee at the Kentucky Bar Association and the Apprentice Program Advisory Council at Louisville Legal Aid.
At the University of Louisville, Dean Hajek serves on the UofL Career Services Council, Business Liaison Council, and the UofL Internship Summit Group. She is a former member of the University of Louisville Staff Senate.
Dean Hajek has been an active member of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) throughout the years, having served on committees and presented at NALP conferences.
