Dr. Aslan's research interest is mainly focused on investigating blood pressure regulation in individuals with acute and chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). Individuals with SCI suffer from autonomic nervous system impairment that causes cardiovascular dysfunction including low resting blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension due to sympathetic nervous system dysfunction below the level of the injury secondary to immobilization.
