Cardinal Principles Champion

The Cardinal Principles Champions award is designed to honor our faculty and staff who have demonstrated one of the Cardinal Principles at the highest level of impact. If you know someone who has shown exceptional commitment to community of care, accountability, respect, diversity and inclusion, integrity and transparency, noble purpose, agility or leadership, please take this time to honor them!

Award Overview & Criteria

  • Nomination Period
    • Open from December 1 to February 15 each year.
  • Who Can Nominate
    • Anyone in the university community (co-workers, supervisors, faculty, staff, and students). Self-nominations are not accepted.
  • Eligibility Requirements for Nominee
    • Full-time, regular status faculty and staff.
    • Must be in good standing with the university.
    • Have at least one year of continuous service.
  • Nomination Form Requirement
    • All requested fields must be completely filled out.
    • You can include additional letters of support with the nomination, but the form must be fully completed; if multiple people wish to nominate the same individual, it's encouraged to submit one nomination and combine all support letters into a single PDF document.

Selection Criteria

A selection committee of peers will review each nomination. Up to eight winners are selected annually, one per each category. Recipients of this award must demonstrate one of the Cardinal Principles at the highest level of excellence and impact.

What Winners Receive

Once winners are selected, they will be notified via email. They will receive:

  • A cash award of $1,000
  • An engraved glass award
  • Recognition in UofL Today
  • A highlight on the Employee Success Center website
  • An invitation to the Annual Presidential Excellence Reception
