Gerald T. Grant, DMD, MS, receives honor

Gerald T. Grant, DMD, MS, professor and acting chair, Department of Oral Health and Rehabilitation, recently received Transylvania University's Distinguished Achievement Award. The honor is given to alumni who have demonstrated excellence in their professional lives and service to their communities.

Grant earned a Bachelor of Arts from Transylvania University before attending dental school at the University of Louisville. He went on to receive a Masters of Science in Health Sciences at George Washington University. He then completed advanced training in prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics at the Naval Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland.

Before joining the faculty at the UofL School of Dentistry, Grant served in the Navy and was instrumental in developing the military's 3D medical modeling center. His research interests are in the areas of dental and medial image capture, computer simulation and design, and fabrication of medical and dental devices with additive manufacturing.
