Position Description
The Center for Asian Democracy at the University of Louisville is pleased to announce a postdoctoral research position in the area of democracy and human rights in Asia. Applicants with a substantive research focus related to the role of religion, nationalism, ethnicity, or culture in democratic politics, and advanced quantitative research methods training (particularly experimental and quasi-experimental design and analysis), are especially welcomed. The position is open with regard to geographic focus within the region. We welcome candidates with degrees in Political Science or related social science fields.
The position is for the academic year 2025-2026, with the potential for one renewal. Applicants must hold a PhD by September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will conduct research on a proposed individual postdoctoral project; collaborate closely with faculty affiliates of the Center for Asian Democracy on a shared research project; present research to faculty and graduate students; participate in activities at the Center for Asian Democracy; and contribute to planning CAD events and initiatives. The candidate should expect to teach one course during the academic year, provided their expertise fits with departmental needs. The salary and benefits package are competitive, and include funding for research/conference expenses.
The position requires residence in Louisville during the academic year, and active participation in the intellectual life of the University.
