The Kentucky Pedagogicon

The application for funding deadline has been extended to April 15.

The Delphi Center will provide funding for conference registration and mileage for up to 20 UofL faculty and staff members to attend this year's 2014 Kentucky Pedagogicon. From 2011-2013, the Pedagogicon was part of the Kentucky Innovation Conference and is now a joint production of the CPE, the CPE Faculty Development Workgroup, and Eastern Kentucky University.

Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis with preference given to UofL presenters and faculty. To be eligible for these funds, you must apply by April 15 for funding using the form provided. The Delphi Center will handle your registration for the conference. A stipend will be transferred via Intra University Transfers (IUT) to your designated departmental speed type for your mileage and lodging reimbursement.

About the Conference

The conference theme, “Practicing Scholarly and Creative Teaching,” encourages us to examine and promote those strategies of deliberate practice that constitute highly effective instruction. As Ken Bain says in What the Best College Teachers Do (2004), “Exceptional teachers treat their lectures, discussions sections, problem-based sessions, and other elements of teaching as serious intellectual endeavors as intellectually demanding and important as their research and scholarship” (p. 17).

Round-trip mileage to Richmond, KY from Louisville is approximately 200 miles and will be reimbursed at $0.565 per mile. The Intra University Transfers (IUTs) will be initiated by the Delphi Center to your department and your reimbursement will be handled your own departmental UBM.

For more information, please contact John Whitney, Delphi Program Coordinator, by email or at 502.852.7623.
