Class schedule information may be viewed by logging in to Ulink, selecting the ‘Manage Classes’ tile, then ‘Class Search and Enroll’, select Fall 2022, click ‘Additional ways to Search’, then select ‘Winter Session’ under ‘Academic Session’.

For either class search option, select Fall 2022 as the term and ‘Winter Session’ as the session.

Whether you want to accelerate your graduation date, need to catch up on a course you missed or just want to squeeze in an elective between semesters, Winter Session is the perfect opportunity. All Winter Session courses are offered 100% online in three intensive weeks. Enrollment is open to current, new, transfer or visiting UofL students.


 

*The last day to add is also the last day to delete a course from your record. After that date, a grade of "W" is assigned for withdrawals.

**January 4 is reserved for comprehensive finals only. If there is no comprehensive final, the last day of that class will be January 3.

NOTE: Final Assessments and Final Exams will be conducted online

  • Cost

    Winter Session Courses are charged per credit hour. These courses will be billed separately and in addition to Fall term course load.

    Students currently enrolled in a campus program pay tuition by their residency (in-state/out-of-state) status.

    Students currently enrolled in a fully-online program pay online tuition.

    Special rates:

    • $250/credit for active-duty service members, Coast Guard and qualifying members of the Reserve Component and National Guard eligible for Title X (federal) TA*
    • $375/credit for RN_BSN (nursing courses only)
    • $581/credit for teacher education courses (approved programs only)
    • $1181 Non-Resident/credit for teacher education courses (approved programs only)
    • $800/credit for courses in College of Business Certificate programs
    • $483/credit for courses in Master of Science in Health Administration

    Tuition rate does not include costs associated with a specific course or program, such as textbooks.

    Eligible full-time UofL employees may use their tuition remission benefits for Winter Session classes (up to 8 credit hours per term) provided they have not reached their yearly maximum. For transcript purposes, Winter Session courses are considered part of the Fall Term and charged per credit hour.   • Financial Aid

    For financial aid processing, the Winter Session is an intersession that is treated as part of the fall term. Therefore, when determining financial aid eligibility, hours taken in the intersession count toward a student’s enrollment status for the fall term, and costs for the intersession will be included in the cost of attendance (COA) for the fall term.

    If you are planning to or have already registered for the Winter Session, it is recommended you contact a financial aid counselor at UofL to determine your potential financial aid options prior to the start of the Winter Session. Please note if you are a student enrolled as visiting students at UofL, you are not eligible to process financial aid at UofL; please contact your home school to discuss potential financial aid options.

    Federal Financial Aid – If you have not done so already, please complete the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and ensure UofL is listed as a school choice (UofL’s school code: 001999). For additional information, please visit the Student Financial Aid Office’s website. To determine if you have any federal aid eligibility remaining for enrollment in the Winter Session, please contact UofL’s Student Financial Aid Office.

    Scholarships - Please check with your Department for which you are enrolled regarding potential scholarship availability. Please note UofL admission-based scholarships, including Trustees, Porter, and National Scholars funds, cannot be used during the Winter Session, per the terms of condition of the applicable scholarship program.

    Private/Alternative Educational Loans – For information on private/alternative educational loans, please visit the Student Financial Aid Office’s website. If you plan to use private/alternative educational loan funds to help cover expenses for enrollment in the Winter Session, please contact a financial aid counselor at UofL as soon as you enroll or know you will be enrolling in the Winter Session.

    KRS tuition waiver - Students with KRS documentation on file associated with veterans, police officers, firefighters, state employees, supervising or resource teachers, and foster or adopted children will be automatically awarded tuition benefits if standard eligibility conditions are met.

    Kentucky State Aid (CAP Grant and KEES Scholarship) - If you are a Kentucky CAP Grant and/or KEES Scholarship recipient and did receive a full-time award during the fall term based on your fall enrollment (excluding Winter Session hours), you may be eligible for additional funds based on your enrollment in the Winter Session. Please contact a financial aid counselor at UofL to determine if you have any remaining state aid eligibility.

Students who need to speak with a financial aid counselor about aid for winter session must contact the office prior to 12/15. In accordance with the University’s holiday schedule, the Financial Aid office will be closed for winter break 12/17/2022 – 1/2/2023.

  • Billing
    • Students will receive a tuition bill for Winter Session classes beginning in late October.
    • Bills will be due on December 15. Lack of payment could result in penalty including the assessment of a financial hold which will restrict the ability to add/drop future registrations.

  • Library Support

    Ekstrom Libraries will operate on intersession hours between 12/14/21-1/5/22.

    Winter Session students will have access to online databases, journals, research guides and DIY resources designed specifically to support online students.

    Online Library Resources

    • Distance Library Services – Homepage for distance education library resources and support.
    • Subject Guides – The library’s Subject Guides provide links to recommended databases and other research resources grouped by subject area. All library databases are available 24/7 during Winter Session.
    • Research DIY – Research DIY breaks down the research process for students and includes videos, infographics, and step-by-step instructions for searching databases, finding quality sources, writing a research paper, and more.
    • Ask a Librarian – Students can use this form to contact a librarian with reference or other library-related questions during Winter Session. Please allow 24 hours for a response.

    UofL students may also use their student IDs at any of the seven participating Metroversity libraries. To see a list of participating libraries, please visit http://metroversity.org/libraries

  • Academic Support
    • REACH tutoring services and appointments are not available during Winter Session but online help resources are available at https://reach.louisville.edu/tipsandtools/
    • The University of Louisville Writing Center (including the Virtual Writing Center) will be closed from 12/14/22-1/9/23. However, students can access valuable resources such as Writing FAQS, instructional videos, and writing handouts by visiting http://louisville.edu/writingcenter/for-students-1
  • Technical Support
    • Student Tech support services are available throughout the Winter Session by phone at (502) 852-7997.
    • Helpdesk hours are available every day from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. except on December 25.
    • If you have an urgent request during off hours, call the helpdesk (and press #5) and your call will be transferred to an on-call technician, or you can leave your request on voicemail. Your call will be returned the next day starting at 7 a.m. unless you specify a time.
  • Disability Resource Center

  • I’m a Current UofL Student

    If you are currently enrolled (continuing student) at UofL, you may register for winter courses (under Fall 2021 Term) the same way you register for regular term courses, through ULink.

    1. Login to ULink with your UofL student credentials
    2. Click on “Student” tab
    3. Select “Manage Classes”
    4. In the left nav menu, select “Class Search and Enroll”
    5. Select “Fall 2021” in the Terms list
    6. In the field “Search for Classes”, enter the course title, keyword OR course code
      • Note: Alternatively, Click ‘Additional ways to search’ and under ‘Academic Session’, select ‘Winter Session’ to find your course.
    7. From the list of courses in your search results list, select and expand the course of your choice
    8. Select Winter Session option (indicated under the “Session” column)
    9. Follow the prompts/steps to enroll (click Accept button for each of the steps)

  • I’m a New or Transfer Student

    If you want to take Winter Session courses at UofL as a new, readmitted or transfer, you will need to complete an application for admission. Please apply early to ensure there is enough time to process your application. Based on your qualifications, you can apply to an undergraduate or graduate program:

    How to apply:

    • Undergraduate Admission – visit page
      • Submit application and $25 application fee
    • Graduate Admission – visit page
      1. Contact the Graduate Program of interest to determine eligibility for the course or degree program
      2. Submit the graduate application for degree status to the program of interest OR Submit the graduate application as a non-degree visiting student to the graduate program offering the course (by established deadline) at http://louisville.edu/graduate.
      3. Pay the graduate application fee of $65
      4. The graduate program will make the admission decision and notify Graduate Admissions
      5. Graduate Admissions will process the admit, so that the student may register for Winter Session courses

  • I'm a Visiting or Returning Student

    If you are currently attending other institutions or have graduated from UofL and are interested in taking Winter Session courses at UofL as a visiting student, you will need to complete an application for admission and indicate that you will be a “non-degree” student.

    If you are a returning (post-master’s) student interested in taking a Winter Session course, you are required to submit an application for admission to the Graduate School indicating that you will be a “non-degree” student.

    Please apply early to ensure there is enough time to process your application.

    1. Contact the Graduate Program of interest to determine eligibility for the course or degree program
    2. Submit the graduate application as a non-degree visiting student to the graduate program offering the course (by established deadline). http://louisville.edu/graduate

    4. Visiting students will not need to use the online letter of recommendation option, as letters are not required
    5. Visiting students will need a visiting student letter/and or official transcript (sent directly from the home school) to Graduate Admissions. Degree seeking students will need to submit all required program documents.
    6. The graduate program will make the admission decision and notify Graduate Admissions
    7. Graduate Admissions will process the admit, so that the student may register for Winter Session courses
