Traveling exhibit on display at SPHIS through Oct. 1.

Poster for exhibit, Surviving & Thriving: AIDS, Politics, and Culture.

In 1981, a new disease appeared in the U.S. and reactions to the disease, soon named AIDS, varied. Scientists and public health officials struggled to understand the disease, while politicians remained largely silent.

Learn about the history of AIDS and AIDS activism by visiting the National Library of Medicine's traveling exhibit, Surviving & Thriving: AIDS, Politics, and Culture.

The exhibit is on display at the UofL School of Public Health and Information Sciences now through Oct. 1, and at Kornhauser Health Sciences Library from Oct. 2-Oct. 21.

If you cannot stop by to see the exhibit in person, you can view the exhibit and get additional resources on the National Library of Medicine exhibition website.

Thanks to Gina Genova, Clinical Librarian and Assistant Professor, Kornhauser Health Sciences Library, for her help in bringing this exhibit to campus and SPHIS.
