UofL alumnus Charles Helms has received The Mary Churchill Humphrey Memorial Scholarship. The prize goes to exceptional academics for ongoing, interdisciplinary studies in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Helms will spend two years at the University of Oxford in England. The scholarship provides $25,000 per year for two years and covers transportation, tuition, housing and meals.

The Mary Churchill Humphrey Memorial Scholarship goes to academically distinguished College of Arts & Sciences seniors, graduate students and recent graduates.

“Study at Oxford through the Mary Churchill Humphrey award is the culmination of the effort put forth by the teachers and faculty at the University of Louisville and will provide me with an academic foundation for my future work in international relations,” Helms said.

Collegiate experience

  • Graduated: 2011 with a political science degree from UofL’s College of Arts and Sciences
  • Collegiate recognition and honors: In 2011 earned a Fulbright award to teach in Kosovo.
