Revision of The Redbook

Article 7.1 Responsibility for Revision

The revision of The Redbook shall be the responsibility of the Board of Trustees. The Board will normally follow the procedures indicated for the revision of individual chapters in Article 7.2, but nothing in these procedures shall restrain the Board from exercising its ultimate power to revise The Redbook either on the recommendation of the President or on its own initiative should it deem such action necessary. The term revision as used in this Article and in Article 7.2 includes all amendments to The Redbook.

Article 7.2 Procedure for Revision

Sec. 7.2.1 Revision of Chapter One: Organization and Operation of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Overseers

This chapter is to be revised by the Board of Trustees on its own initiative after consultation with the President.

Sec. 7.2.2 Revision of Chapter Two: Organization and Operation of the University Administration

This chapter is to be revised by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the President after such consultation with the segments of the University community as is required in this document.

Sec. 7.2.3 Revision of Chapter Three: Organization and Governance of the Academic Programs

This chapter is to be revised by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the President after formal consultation with and recommendations from the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate may take the initiative in making recommendations for proposed revisions.

Sec. 7.2.4 Revision of Chapter Four: Faculty Personnel Policies

This chapter is to be revised by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the President after formal consultation with and recommendations from the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate may take the initiative in making recommendations for proposed revisions.

Sec. 7.2.5 Revision of Chapter Five: Staff Organization and Personnel Policies

This chapter is to be revised by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the President after formal consultation with and recommendations from the Staff Senate. The Staff Senate may take the initiative in making recommendations for proposed revisions.

Sec. 7.2.6 Revision of Chapter Six: Student Governance and and Student Affairs Administration

This chapter is to be revised by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the President after formal consultation with and recommendations from the Student Senate. The Student Senate may take the initiative in making recommendations for proposed revisions.
