Campus Health Services
Campus Health Services
Campus Health Services is a place where transgender and non-binary students will receive competent and effective care from a trained team of providers. Across an array of health care concerns, including prescriptions for hormone therapy and consultation about gender confirmation surgery options, the staff is ready to assist.
The student health insurance plan covers a number of procedures and services for transgender and non-binary students. If you have questions about what your student health insurance covers, you can speak directly with an insurance advocate at (502) 852-6519.
Making an appointment and talking to someone about identity can be daunting but the LGBT Center staff is here to help. Reach out to us at lgbt@louisville.edu. No member of our team is a healthcare professional or an insurance expert but we can support you in accessing the resources available. Please note: LGBT Center staff cannot make appointments on your behalf or provide medical advice.

The Counseling Center
The University of Louisville’s Counseling Center provides free short term individual, group, and couples counseling, crisis intervention, and psychological testing. Clients seek services for a variety of areas of concerns, including psychological, personal/social, academic, and career issues. Counselors at the center work in conjunction with the university community to promote a healthy campus environment that maximizes academic success and student retention.
Some reasons to seek counseling might include exploring gender identity and expression, “coming out” to significant people, healing from past discrimination, and building healthy relationships. An LGBTQ+ group is often on the schedule each semester.
