PRIDE Week Keynote Speaker Announced
The LGBT Center is pleased to announce its 2014 Pride Week keynote speaker, Richard Blanco, who wrote and delivered the inaugural poem for President Obama in 2013 and is both gay and Cuban. In its effort to honor the contributions of LGBT people in all communities and to recognize the power of intersectionality, the Center joined with the Hispanic/Latin American Faculty and Staff Association in inviting Blanco to campus to address both Pride Week and Hispanic Heritage Month. The collaboration is especially timely, since Blanco’s new book, For All of Us, One Today tells the story of how his identities as gay and Cuban renewed his understanding of the evolving American landscape.
