Are you a member of a Greek organization on campus? This session is for you!

Greek letter organizations are built on principles and values. When it comes to prospective members who identify as transgender, what principles and values should organizations use to guide decisions about who to invite for membership into their brotherhood or sisterhood? This session aims to answer those questions by sharing ideas, actions, and terminology to help staff and students alike work toward trans* inclusion. There will be a presentation of and discussion about a pilot program at the University of Louisville that educates collegiate chapter members about welcoming transgender prospective members, as well as how to address concerns from chapter headquarters and alumni, the Greek community, and the larger campus community.

Participants in this session will have the opportunity to discuss and brainstorm questions regarding what it means to have a trans* brother or sister, barriers to inclusion of trans* members, and strategies for building stronger chapters through diverse membership.
