All material on this reel concerns Mr. Brandeis' Supreme Court nomination and consists mostly of carbon copies. Applications for Supreme Court staff appointments continue from reel 39. There are also letters supporting Brandeis' nomination, addressed to Senator William E. Chilton and other members of the Senate Judiciary subcommittee which held the nomination hearings; press releases favorable to the nomination for publication in the nation's magazines and newspapers, and correspondence with Brandeis' legal partner, Edward F.
