The Supreme Court found the Kentucky's 1974 adoption of the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act unconstitutional under Sections 59 and 60 of the Constitution of Kentucky, which bars special legislation for the benefit of particular city, because it had the effect of confining it to cities of the Louisville and Lexington.
Note: The legislature later cured the problem by re-adopting URLTA with any Kentucky city having the option to opt-in to the law.
