Timeline of the UofL Faculty Compensation Study implementation

 

Project Updates

Early Fall 2024 Semester

  • August 7, 2024: Overall results and initial implementation strategy presented at Faculty Town Halls. (Results presentation here.)
  • August 9, 2024: Individual pay adjustment notifications sent to all full-time faculty in the scope of the study.

May - July 2024

  • May 9, 2024: Segal presented pay equity methodology to all faculty leadership.
  • May 17, 2024: Provost Bradley sent a faculty-wide update about the study and the plan to host two Faculty Town Hall meetings. (See the message.)
  • June 5, 2024: Provost Bradley presented updates to Faculty Senate, and Segal presented pay equity methodology. (See the presentation.)
  • June 5, 2024: Provost Bradley sent a faculty-wide update about the study confirming August 7 as the new date for the HSC and Belknap Campus Faculty Town Hall meetings. RSVP instructions and the link for submitting questions in advance were also provided. (See the message.)
  • Mid to Late June: Deans and LFOs receive unit data file with initial adjustment information for review.
  • Mid July: Deans and LFOs complete another review of their unit data file.

January 2024 – April 2024

  • February 21, 2024: Segal explained unit data validation instructions for LFOS/Unit Faculty Affairs representatives.
  • March 6, 2024: Provost Bradley presented updates to the Faculty Senate. (See the presentation.)
  • March 15, 2024: LFOs completed data validation of their unit's faculty data and sent validation file to their unit deans for review and approval.
  • March 22, 2024: Deans completed their review and submitted approvals for their unit's faculty validation file.
  • March 26, 2024: Provost Bradley sent a faculty-wide update about the study and the plan for each full-time faculty member to receive from their unit a base salary notification for their review before the Salary Market Assessment phase of the study begins. (See the message.)
  • March 29, 2024: Deans received their unit's final data file on full-time faculty.
  • April 1-5, 2024: LFOs, FA representatives and department chairs sent base salary notifications to their full-time faculty.
  • April 1-10, 2024: Faculty reviewed/asked questions about their base salary.
  • April 3, 2024: Provost Bradley presented updates to the Faculty Senate. (See the presentation.)
  • April 11, 2024: Provost Bradley sent faculty-wide email with updates and a timeline adjustment notice. (See the message.)
  • April 12, 2024: Deadline for LFOs/FA representatives to resolve needed corrections.
  • April 15, 2024: Segal begins base salary market assessment.
  • April 26, 2024: Provost Bradley sent a faculty-wide update about Segal's pay equity methodology presentations and a request to complete a survey on preferred date range for an early fall Faculty Town Hall meeting. (See the message.)
  • Late April: Segal begins pay equity study.

October 2023 – February 2024

  • February 7, 2024: Segal presented methodology to the Faculty Senate. (See the presentation.)
  • February 21, 2024: Segal presented methodology to Council of Academic Officers (CAO).
  • February 28, 2024: Segal presented methodology to Department Chairs.

June 2023 – September 2023

  • Match faculty rank and discipline (CIP Codes) to published survey sources.
  • Update UofL pay data to reflect cost-of-living adjustments and merit increases.
  • Academic unit finance/business officers and Faculty Affairs review and validate faculty base salary and academic appointment details.

February 2023 – May 2023

  • Identification of faculty with administrative responsibilities and their associated pay.
  • Export UofL faculty census data file from Workday.
  • Faculty base salary data validation with W3 Advisory Committee Co-Chairs, Faculty Affairs and Office of Academic Planning and Accountability (OAPA).

November 2022 – January 2023

  • Faculty mapping review and confirmation to appropriate Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes.
  • UofL Faculty Project team identification, procurement, and validation of survey sources used for faculty market assessment.
  • Export initial census data file from PeopleSoft.
  • Faculty base salary data validation with W3 Advisory Committee Co-Chairs, Faculty Affairs and Office of Academic Planning and Accountability (OAPA).

September 2022 – October 2022

  • Project kick-off meeting between Segal and UofL Faculty Project Team.
  • Faculty census data request, gathering of UofL information, and review of information.

January 2022 – July 2022

  • Approval of proposed Total Compensation Philosophy and Peer Group by Steering Committee.
  • Segal presents proposed Total Compensation Philosophy and Peer Group to staff and faculty W3 Advisory Committee and Steering Committee for review and feedback.
  • Faculty and Staff Senate updates.
  • Human Resources presents employee pulse survey results summary to campus.
  • Distribute employee pulse survey to campus.
  • Campus updates via UofL Today.

April 2021 – January 2022

  • Segal holds stakeholder interviews.
  • Finalization of contract with Segal.
