The Kentucky Autism Training Center   is pleased to announce that registration is OPEN for the   2016 ASD Paren t  Summit in Hazard, Kentucky! 

Educational Cooperative. The two-day event for self-advocates, families, and professionals will be held April 15 and 16 at the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative.

For the low cost of $20/individual or $30/couple, 

participants will enjoy dinner and resource roundtables 

Friday evening and a full day of sessions   (including a keynote speaker) and lunch on Saturday. 

A limited number of FREE rooms will be available for 

participants who live 60 or more miles from the event 

site (KY Valley Educational Cooperative) - the participant

must register  for the Parent Summit and must make their 

hotel reservations by March 1!

Please see the Commonwealth Council on  Developmental Disabilities website for information  regarding their Leadership Development Grant:  This reimbursement grant is available for financial  assistance for individuals with developmental disabilities  and their close support network to participate in both in-state  and out-of-state leadership development opportunities.

What's covered: travel (mileage), registration, lodging (if you do not receive free  accommodations), and attendant/respite care.

University of Louisville's Kentucky Autism Training Center  is coordinating this event in collaboration with KVEC (Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative), KEDC  (Kentucky Educational Development Corporation) and the  Office of Autism.  Download the Flyer [PDF]

The Spring Regional workshops will focus on teaching socialization and communication to individuals with ASD. Communication and social skills are the foundation of successful life outcomes.  Often times individuals with autism spectrum disorders display difficulty communicating socially with adults and peers which can make it challenging to function in the home, community, and school.  KATC Field Trainer's Michelle Antle, Laura Ferguson and Kim Howard will travel to three different locations in the state to provide training for families, educators and other professionals addressing these issues.  

The full day workshop includes meals and certificates of attendance.  Professional continuing education credit is also available for many different professions.  Locations include Barren River State Park, Cumberland Falls State Park and General Butler State Park.  Registration fee:  $45/Family Members, Full-Time Students and Instructional Assistants. $65/ Educators and other Professionals.
