Dr. “Jerry” Grant received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry in 1985, a certificate in Prosthodontics from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, Bethesda, MD and a Master’s of Science from George Washington University in 1995, and a certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in 1999.  He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics and is currently President of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics.  He came to ULSD after 33 years of service with the United States Navy where he was the Service Chief of the 3D Medical Applications Center, Department of Radiology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.  Dr. Grant’s research is in the validation and applications of Advanced Digital Dental Technologies, virtual surgical applications, Advanced Digital Applications in the design and fabrication of medical devices for craniofacial reconstruction, dental restoration and rehabilitation, and recently in bio-printing/bio-fabrication.

Dr. Bryan Harris graduated from Northern Kentucky University with his BS in Biology in 2000, from the University of Louisville with his DMD certificate in 2004 and the University of Texas, Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2007 with his Advanced Certificate in Prosthodontics. Dr. Harris is a member of the American Dental Education Association and a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics and International Team for Implantology.


 Dr. Wei-Shao Lin

Dr. Wei-Shao Lin graduated from the Chung-Shan Medical University, Taiwan with his DDS in 2003, received his certification in Prosthodontics and in Implantology from the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester in 2010, and is expected to complete his Doctoral from the College of Education and Human Development from the University of Louisville in 2019.  Dr. Lin is currently the Director of the division of Prosthodontics and the ITI Implant Scholarship Program.  He holds several patents in methods for fabricating dental prostheses and dental restorations and serves on several committees including the Faculty Personnel Committee at UofL as well as Review Board member for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Editorial Review Board member for the Journal of Dental Education. 


Dr. Daniel Montero

Dr. Montero graduated from Latin University of Costa Rica with his DDS in 2009 and received his certification in Prosthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015.  He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics (ACP) and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). Dr. Montero is currently the Preclinical Fixed Pros Course Director. 


Dr. Jyme Charette

Dr. Jyme Rae Charette is a 2005 graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program at the Indiana-Purdue University of Fort Wayne. After five years of hygiene practice, Dr. Charette joined the 2013 graduating class at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Upon completion of the DMD program, she earned a certificate in the specialty of Prosthodontics as well as a Master’s degree in the art of Dental Science from the University of Louisville in 2016. Dr. Charette is IRB research approved, holds authorship on a JPD article that was published during residency, and serves an acting member of the Admissions Committee. Dr. Charette joined the Oral Health and Rehabilitation Department as the Discipline Coordinator for Complete Removable this fall and aspires to share knowledge and experiences with a positive attitude, authenticity and a genuine interest in students and the patients that they treat. Dr. Charette takes pride in advocating for a diverse population of patients and welcoming members of any and all communities to a safe and inclusive environment where they can receive superior individualized care.


Dr. Wasan Amornsang

Dr. Wasan Amornsang obtained his undergraduate degree from Trium Udom Suksa School, Bangkok, Thailand in 1987 and his DDS from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok in 1993. He furthered his education with a MSc in Gerodontology from the Royal London Hospital, London, England in 1995, a Master’s degree in Oral Biomaterial from UT-Houston in 1999, a Certificate of Maxillofacial Prosthetics from UPMC in Pittsburgh in 2001, a Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from LSU School of Dentistry in 2000, and a Certificate in Prosthodontics from UT-Houston Dental in 1999.  Dr. Amornsang was newly appointed this summer having previously taught at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the University Hospital in Canada where he served on the Nomination, the Awards and Scholarships, and the Curriculum Development Committees. Dr. Wasan is a previous member of the Ontario Dental Association and of the CDA/Dentsply Student Clinicians Research Program.

Dr. Carmine Esposito received his AA degree from the University of Florida in 1973 and his DMD degree from the University of Louisville in 1977.  He holds his board certification from the American Board of Orofacial Pain which he received in 1995.  Dr. Esposito’s dental interest is in temporomandibular (TMJ) disorders and orofacial pain.  He currently serves as Discipline Coordinator for this discipline as well as serves on the U of L Athletic Association Board of Directors and he is the Alumni Association's Alumni Travel Program Coordinator.

Dr. Eiad Elthamna received his BDS from the College of Dental Surgery in 1996, his Certification in Dentistry from the University of Southern California in 2007 and his Masters in Oral Science from the University of Buffalo in 2011. He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, American College of Prosthodontics and the American Dental Association.


Dr. Zafrulla Khan, DDS, MS, FACD

Dr. Zafrulla Khan received his DDS from Bangalore University in 1972, his certificate of Removable Prosthodontics from the State University of New York in 1978 and certificate in Dental Oncology/Maxillofacial Prosthodontics from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston in 1988 and in 1995 his M.S. from the University of Louisville in Oral Biology. Dr. Khan has been actively involved in campus activities, holding positions as Capital Campaign Chairman for the Brown Cancer Center, Faculty Senator, and mentor for the Senior Medical Student Cancer rotation.  He has served as president of the Kentucky Chapter of the American College of Prosthodontists, consultant for the International Relations Committee of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics as well as numerous other positions in state, regional, and national organizations.

Dr. Lawrence Gettleman

 Lawrence Gettleman received a B.A. from Rutgers College (1962), a D.M.D. from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (1966), and a M.S.D. from St. Louis University (1968) on an N.I.H. training grant in prosthodontics. He served in the U.S. Public Health Service in San Francisco at the Dental Health service until 1970, back on the Harvard faculty until 1976, and at L.S.U School of Dentistry until 1980. He was a senior staff associate at Gulf South Research Institute and in private practice in New Orleans until 1989, and joined the UofL School of Dentistry as Professor of Prosthodontics & Biomaterials in 1990, going part-time in 2014. He has been the principal investigator or coinvestigator of twelve NIH research grants, has published 74 peer-reviewed papers, 13 book chapters or reports, and holds three patents. He developed a permanent, resilient denture liner (Novus).
