Madison Cicha

Madison Cicha has earned a Fulbright Research Award to study climate change mitigation while earning a master’s degree in conservation and restoration ecology at Radboud University/Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in more than 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. Administered in the U.S. by the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright program was established in 1946 to promote international goodwill through education and cultural exchange.

The project I will be joining for my research aims to quantify GHG emissions and identify reduction measures for such emissions to create a globally accessible model of climate-smart management design and tools. The Netherlands, where temperatures are rising twice as fast as the global average, is a vital location for this caliber of climate research."

Undergraduate Achievements: Graduated May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and minors in Arabic and Biology. Madison was president and co-founder of UofL’s Undergraduate Research Club and former two-time captain and member of the Women’s D1 Rowing team.
