Macey Higdon

Macey Higdon has earned a Fulbright-University of Jyvaskyla Graduate Award. She will pursue a two-year master's degree at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland, in biology of physical activity with a focus in biomechanics.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in more than 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. Administered in the U.S. by the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright program was established in 1946 to promote international goodwill through education and cultural exchange.

I will be completing my master's thesis under Neil Cronin's gait cycle research. My role as a Fulbright grantee is to also engage with my community, so I plan to partake in Circle of Friends, a community organization put in place to combat loneliness among older people. I will also partake in the cyclist community as well as a wide range of winter sports."

Undergraduate Achievements:

Graduated May 2021 with bachelor's degree in exercise science with a communications minor.

Dr. Mary Ashlock, associate professor of communication, and Dr. Katie Harman, clinical assistant professor of health and sport sciences. "With the support of friends, family and academic mentors, I have gained confidence in myself academically and as an international advocate."
