Overview

The Canine Biomechanics Laboratory is located in the Injury Risk Assessment and Prevention (iRAP) Laboratory on the University of Louisville Health Sciences Campus in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering Department of Bioengineering. The purpose of the Canine Biomechanics Laboratory is to use engineering techniques such as computer modeling and gait analysis to improve the quality of life for dogs with orthopedic and neurologic injury. Our laboratory has investigated canine cranial cruciate ligament injury and knee stabilization techniques, evaluated canine rehabilitation strategies, and developed a low-cost canine wheelchair.
