Yelena Bagdasaryan, of Lexington, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2024 at the University of Louisville. She is studying public health and political science.

High School

Yelena is a graduate of Lafayette High School, where she finished among the top ten in her class and earned AP Scholar with Honors distinction. She was vice president of her junior and senior classes and was an active member of several clubs and societies, including the National Honors, French Honors, Beta, Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta and Environmental organizations. A theater major for nine years with the School for the Creative and Performing Arts, she was recognized as an Honor Thespian and a Vice President's List Scholar with Thespian Honors Society. Yelena, the daughter of Grigori Bagdasaryan and Yulia Pavlovskaya Bagdasaryan, earned the Outstanding English Student Award in 2017.

I am so honored to be chosen as a McConnell Scholar. It is an incredible opportunity that will allow me to share my passion for learning as well as building relationships with like-minded individuals. The McConnell Center will make a large impact on my future these next four years.
