Notice of Cessation of Certificates Pilot Program
After careful review of newly adopted requirements set by the American Bar Association regarding experiential learning, and the effect on our curricular needs to satisfy those requirements, we have determined that we are ceasing our pilot program for Litigation and Transactional Certificates of Accomplishment.
This pilot program was started before the ABA enacted the new experiential learning requirements. At the time, we saw a need to help students focus on being exposed in law school to the skills needed for practice. In light of the new requirements, the law school revised our graduation requirements for students that matriculated in the fall of 2016. In order to ensure adequate coverage for that requirement, and with our new emphasis on offering all students an opportunity for comprehensive skills instruction, we determined that offering a more limited certificate program no longer fit with the overall goals of our education program.
Those currently enrolled in the priority registration program, and those working towards completing one of the certificates for graduation in May 2018, will still have the opportunity to complete the pilot program.
