Applications being Accepted for $6000 Summer Fellowships with AG's Offices for 1Ls and 2Ls
Many state attorney general offices around the country, will be hiring an intern as an ABA Janet Steiger Fellow this coming summer to work on consumer protection and anti-trust projects. Attorney general offices offering this fellowship include: Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arizona, Kansas, New Hampshire, Arkansas, New Jersey, Texas, Connecticut, Maryland, New York, Utah, Florida, Massachusetts, Vermont, Georgia, Mississippi, Oregon, Virginia, Hawaii, Montana, Pennsylvania, Washington, Nebraska, South Carolina, West Virginia, Iowa, Nevada, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming. Successful 1L and 2L applicants will have the opportunity to work on consumer protection and antitrust projects. Each Steiger Fellow will receive a gross stipend of $6000 for the eight or ten week period paid for through the American Bar Association. Travel and housing expenses may also be approved at the discretion of the ABA. Deadline to apply is Saturday, November 20, 2021. Applications will be reviewed after the deadline date. For 1Ls, the November 1 application start date for summer is waived due to the early deadline for the government agency. 1Ls may apply even though you will not have a transcript by the application deadline. The transcript requirement has been waived for 1Ls.
The duties of state attorneys general include providing consumer protections from fraud, antitrust, scams and dangerous products, people and situations, protection of the state's resources by upholding state and federal environmental laws, oversight or direct involvement in criminal court cases and appeals, enforcement of judgments, such as child support and victim's programs, and formal opinions to state and federal agencies.
This Fellowship Project continues to be a tribute to the memory of the late Janet D. Steiger, one of America's great public servants who, during her remarkable tenure as FTC Chairman, dramatically improved cooperation, communication and coordination between state and federal consumer protection and antitrust enforcement agencies.
