Graduate Funding and Other Resources
Graduate Assistantships
The Department of Geographic and Environmental Sciences offers a limited number of graduate assistantship (GA) positions for incoming students each year. These are typically only available for Fall semester applicants. GA positions include a full-time tuition remission, health insurance and a monthly stipend. GA’s are employed on 10-month contracts from August-May for a maximum of two years, and must be enrolled full-time during this period. Responsibilities can include working with department faculty on research projects and serving as teaching assistants or instructors-of-record for department courses. Applicants interested in being considered for a GA position must indicate this on their personal statement as part of their application.
Additional research assistantships may also be available via funded research projects through individual faculty members.
Other sources of financial aid are also available to qualifying applicants via the Graduate School.
