Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Department of Geographic and Environmental Sciences is committed to supporting the UofL Cardinal Anti-Racist agenda through departmental diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. As representatives of our discipline, we seek to increase representation so that future geographers can see others like themselves. As a department, we seek to be an inclusive and welcoming community for ALL. We take a stand through our research, outreach, and activism, against systemic racism on our campus and in our local, national, and global communities, and we recognize that more work needs to be done, including within our department and our discipline. At the forefront of our efforts is the DEI Committee within the Department of Geographic and Environmental Sciences. Comprising dedicated faculty and staff from our department, we are committed to fostering an environment that champions diversity, promotes equity, and ensures inclusion within our academic community through collaborative initiatives and strategic planning.
