Dr. Angela Storey

This summer Dr. Angela Storey conducted ethnographic fieldwork on three Louisville-based research projects. In conjunction with colleagues from Public Health and Sociology, she worked with recent UofL alums Ruby Young and Eliza Porter to conduct interviews with homeowners and stakeholders about residential solar adoption in Louisville and to consider the impact of the first year of Metro’s Solar Over Louisville program. On campus-based research, Storey worked with UofL Anthropology major Catherine John to conduct interviews and participant observation for research into participation in campus sustainability projects – including conducting research while touring the campus community gardens and forging from our many serviceberry trees! A third, on-going project that spans Anthropology’s subdisciplines focuses on Eastern Cemetery. In conjunction with wider project work by Drs. Jennings, Smallwood, and Marklein, Storey conducted participant observation at the cemetery and interviews with volunteers from the Friends of Eastern Cemetery. Mowing in the humidity shows that ethnographic research can look like many things!
