Obtaining Copies of Materials Held in UARC
Photocopies
A photocopy machine is available in the University Archives' research rooms. If the materials are not fragile, researchers may make photocopies themselves for ten cents a page. Fragile materials are copied by UARC staff for a fee of twenty-five cents a page. Materials copied by staff in response to remote research requests also cost twenty-five cents a page. In some cases, collection restrictions or extreme fragility may prevent some materials from being copied. In such cases, the materials must be used in the UARC research rooms.
Color photocopies of photographs are also available for a fee of one dollar per image. These photocopies are made off-site and may take 24-48 hours to process.
The use of photocopied materials is governed by the Copy Purchase Agreement, which researchers are asked to read and sign.
Photographic Prints
Copies of photographs may be ordered but precautions needed to protect irreplaceable prints and negatives sometimes slow the process. A minimum of two weeks should be allowed for the completion of a photograph copy order. Color photocopying or scanning frequently provides an acceptable copy of the photograph at a fraction of the time and/or cost, and can be made within a day or two.
The use of copies of photographs is governed by the Copy Purchase Agreement, which researchers are asked to read and sign.
Digital Images
Digitized images of materials in UARC collections are available at a cost of $20.00 per scanned image. As with photocopying, collection restrictions or fragility may prohibit the scanning of some materials. Scanning must be performed by UARC staff; we do not permit the use of personal scanners or digital cameras.
The use of scanned images is governed by the Copy Purchase Agreement, which researchers are asked to read and sign.
Tape Duplication
Tapes and CDs of interviews from the Oral History Center's collection may be obtained, unless prohibited by the donor agreement. In many cases, the tapes can be high-speed dubbed, in which case a copy is available for $10. Some tapes (primarily older tapes) must be copied in realtime due to their fragility; in such cases, the fee for copying is $25.
